Dixie Lee (Green) Gebhart passed away December 26, 2021 in Long Beach, California from a rapidly progressing illness while visiting a dear college friend, Vern Lee Hansen.

Dixie was born June 17, 1950 in Des Moines to David and Cora (Worley) Green. She graduated from Urbandale High School in 1968 and from Drake University in 1972 with a degree in music. She taught elementary music for many years at Saydel and Norwalk. She married James Gebhart on July 27, 1973 and they lived and raised their two sons in Saydel. After retiring from Norwalk Schools in 2005 she worked at Dahls in Johnston and at Walgreens in Des Moines. Dixie loved being with her family, fishing, and taking wildlife pictures.

Dixie was preceded in death by her Parents and husband James Gebhart.

She is survived by her two sons, James Gebhart (April) and Steven Gebhart, both of Bondurant; 5 grandchildren: Cal Gebhart, Jace Gebhart, Macy Koockogey, Bella Gebhart, and Maxwell Gebhart; two sisters, Carolyn Sue (Clifford) Sorbo, Newton, IA and Vivian (David) Freed, Grand View, MO; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and two great grandnieces and one great grandnephew.

Dixie requested there be no public service and that her ashes be scattered by her sons in places that she loved. The family will meet for a Celebration of her Life at a later date.
