Carole Slump

Carole L. Slump, 80 formerly of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 8, 2022 following a brief illness.

Carole was born in Omaha, Nebraska on September 15, 1941, one of two children to Francis and Mildred (Rickie) Loeltz. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1959 and attended the University of Nebraska and Drake University.

For many years she enjoyed her work in the Urbandale School District, making a difference in children’s lives.

In 1962 she married Jack Slump. After living several years in both Nebraska & Michigan, they settled in Urbandale where they raised their three children. They enjoyed a happy and loving marriage for 41 years, until Jack’s death in 2003.

Carole was all about community. With her kind heart and gentle soul, she would open her door to anybody. Her greatest joys were getting together with family and friends, whether it be a neighborhood cookout, the Birthday Club, Bridge Group, the Thursday night Margarita’s, wine, and of course her daily golf outings with her husband Jack at the Urbandale Golf and Country Club.

Carole was very active in her children’s lives, always there to lend an ear and to offer encouragement that only she knew how. Above all Carole was a loving and devoted Grandmother and known only as “Momo.” Her grandkids simply adored her, and there was “almost” nothing she would not do for them.

She will be remembered as a lady of great faith of God; a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be sorely missed.

In addition to her husband Jack, Carole was preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Loeltz and wife, Marlene.

She is survived by her three children, Cindy Mina & husband, John of Portland, Maine; Kris Robson of Urbandale; and Jeff Slump and wife, Lori of Urbandale. Six loving grandchildren Zach, Jack and Luke Robson, Alyson Mina, Cooper and Dalton Slump. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Delaine Slump and wife Neva and sister-in-law Delores Slump, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Suncrest Hospice during Carole’s final days.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Carole’s name to MDRC The Bridge Church or Suncrest Hospice.
