Marlene Fouche

 Obituaries in Des Moines, IA | The Des Moines Register  Marlene Fouche, 86, beloved wife, mother, great-grandmother and friend passed from this life at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical center on February 23, 2022. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 2 also at the funeral home followed by burial at McDivitt Grove Cemetery.

Marlene was born on February 7, 1936 in Milo, Iowa to John and Louise Jacobs. She graduated from Milo High School in 1953 and worked for the Iowa Conservation Commission and Urbandale Schools. In 1977 she was employed by the Farm Bureau until her retirement in 1992. In 1980 Marlene and her husband Wendell purchased Schaal Heating & Cooling so after her retirement she helped part time in the business.

When Wendell retired in 1998 they turned the business over to their son, Roger. Marlene and Wendell spent their next 12 years travelling in their Holiday Ramblers throughout 48 of the 50 states. They joined the National Ramblers RV Club Inc. and the Local Chapter, "Cyclone Country Ramblers", spending time attending National and State Rallies throughout the U.S. During their travels they enjoyed following the NASCAR Circuit attending races at 11 different race tracks. They also spent winters in Florida, Arizona and Texas and most summers at Cutty's Campground.

Marlene was a 50 plus year member of the Milo and Indianola Chapter #338 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Ladies Za Ga Zig Shrine Auxiliary. She also served on the Board of Tradesman Credit Union, now known as Journey Credit Union.

Marlene is survived by her son, Robert of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Best of Des Moines, IA; and son, Roger of Urbandale; Wendell's son, Mike of Oskaloosa, IA; ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Verla Jean Mann of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Graham Vaughn; brother-in-law, Harold Mann; and husband, Wendell Fouche.
