Mark Nicola, 58, unexpectedly died on February 20th, 2022, in Linn Creek, Missouri in the comfort of his home next to his wife of 28 years. Funeral services will be held at 3pm at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Urbandale, Iowa on Saturday February 26th, 2022. A visitation will be from 1pm-3pm at the church before the service.
Mark was born in Dubuque, Iowa on November 20th, 1963, to Harold and Carolyn Nicola. After graduating from Urbandale High School in 1982, Mark and some of his best friends moved down to Florida to essentially live their best lives. Mark was an avid lover of music and managed a record store while living in Florida. Mark loved his friends and the beach.
Mark did decide to come back home to Urbandale and worked as a bartender and server at the Ground Round where he met his lovely wife, Kimberly. Mark and Kim were quite the power couple and married on March 18th, 1993. Mark and Kim owned and operated bars/restaurants together for 25 years. Angelo's Pizza was the staple known when thinking of the Nicola family.
Mark also loved his Cincinnati Reds, Green Bay Packers, and Iowa Hawkeyes. Mark spent his life enjoying every moment traveling, attending concerts and sporting events, and making a darn good pizza pie. Mark loved to have fun and loved to make people laugh. The family would love it for those attending Saturday's events to wear the funniest shirt that they own as that is something that Mark would enjoy.
Mark survived by his Wife Kimberly Nicola; Daughters Rachel & Leah Nicola; Grandsons Jayce and Elijah; and Sister Jill (James) Olson. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Carolyn Nicola.
Memorials may be directed to The University of Iowa Children's Hospital or the Urbandale Booster Club.
