Vicki Oxenford (VanEngelenburg) - Class Of 1967

Victoria VanEngelenburg Obituary Victoria Marie Oxenford VanEngelenburg, 68 years young, surrounded by her family, gained her Angel wings after a long courageous battle with Breast Cancer December 18, 2017. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday at Oakwood United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday at the church.

Vicki was born in 1949 to Donald and Carol Oxenford of Urbandale, IA, the oldest of six kids. Vicki was a graduate of Urbandale High School, Class of 1967. 

Following graduation she worked at Broadlawns Family Practice with Dr. Loran Parker, until she met the love of her life, Gary VanEngelenburg of Sumner, Iowa. Vicki and Gary began their family together in Sumner, where the two were inseparable building a life and business together. They moved to the Des Moines area in 1999 where they owned and operated the Iowa Veterinary Acupuncture Clinic and retired in 2011. The two enjoyed traveling and were full time RV'ers where they met countless new friends. She loved her family, her grandchildren, enjoyed traveling and her Canada fishing trips with Gary. 

Vicki was full of life, caring, compassionate and never met a stranger. She celebrated every moment and lived life to the fullest. She established Camp Whoopas for her grandchildren where she transcended the importance of togetherness, values and love. She spent countless hours making quilts for Citrus County Hospice in Crystal River, FL where she volunteered. 

Vicki is proceeded in death by her father Donald Oxenford, brother-in-law Daniel Noah, sister-in-law Patricia Oxenford. She is survived by her mother Carol Oxenford of Waukee, husband Gary of Norwalk, her six children Tina 50 yrs old (Todd) Heuermann of Pleasant Hill, Tony Rose of Des Moines, Patrick (Karri) Rose of Norwalk, Jennifer(Brian) Wedemeier of Palo, Tony (Ann) VanEngelenburg of Sumner and Nicky (Zach) Smith of Polk City. Her 15 grandchilden: Kole, Kase (Paige and baby) and Kalyx Heuermann, Charles Patrick, Anthony Jack, Dorthy Victoria Rose, Cassie and Joey Rose, Callan, Kody and Ty VanEngelenburg, Abby Wedemeier, Remington, Ellie and baby Smith. Her siblings Toby (Dean) Towers, Bruce (Linda) Oxenford, Jay Oxenford, Martha Noah and Nancy (Rob) Cornelio and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In lieu of flowers family request donations to be made to Dream Catchers foundation or Unity Point Hospice.
